Remember that Tomi de Paola book “Simple Pictures Are Best”? It’s a silly book for kids but the message pertains to a lot of aspects of life. Simple is best.
This little dresser was a blank slate and I could have gone in a million different directions but I stuck with simple. After a couple rounds of scrubbing with Krud Kutter (it was shockingly grimy), I sanded the fronts of the drawers to bare wood (the top is actually laminate or I would have sanded that down too). The rest I painted with Country Chic Paint’s soft, creamy white, Vanilla Frosting. It took about 3 coats for full coverage which is pretty good for white paint!
The drawer fronts I stained with one coat of Old Barn Milk Paint Weathered stain. I never cease to fall in love with the aged depth and variation of color these amazing stains give to even new wood.
With some matte black handles and distressing, the simple makeover was complete and the dresser found a new home.
